Alumni Spotlight! Gary Schell! Class of 2011! His favorite LHS memory is celebrating beating Milford football in overtime 32-31! After serving 5 years in the Marine Corps and obtaining my masters at Arizona State University, I went to work for the military defense industry as a senior security analyst. In 2021 I received a life changing diagnosis for Stage III metastatic cancer. I spent 2 years undergoing chemo and a tandem stem cell transplant. Cancer took a lot from me. My health but even more devastatingly my relationship. During my treatment I also went through a divorce and I hit what many people call "rock bottom". Through the help of my family, friends, and even other Lakeland Alums I was able to beat cancer, twice. I am now coming up on 3 years of being cancer free and am happily engaged. I currently serve as Chairman of the board for a nonprofit I founded called "The Home of Record Project" whose mission is to help house veterans who are going through crisis. I also started my own business working as a real estate investor with over $1 million of assets under management. Thank you for your service Gary! #Lakeland50
