Alumni Spotlight! Class of 2003! Steven Stewart "Stew" Some fond memories from LHS are having the first winning varsity football season in 10 plus years. The last game of the season, in overtime to go 5-4 on the year and set up the football program on a winning path. Also, leading the start of the Blue Crew that became the #1 student section in Michigan. Greatest memory from the Blue Crew was rushing the court after beating the Brighton basketball team in their gym to win districts! After High School I also coached for the Eagles Varsity Football team for 10 years. Today I own a recruiting and Staffing Firm, Talentline Services. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Sue Levitte! Class of 1979! Some find memories are playing sports, getting to know new friends and classmates. She retired from teaching in 2020 and living my best life in Northern Michigan, in the summer you can find me on Lake Charlevoix, and in the Winter on my skis at The Highlands. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Nikki Wattles! Class of 2014! She is fond of Leadership class, Habitat for Humanity Spring Break 2013, Friday night football games and 9am Saturday morning swim practices, 2014 Girls Basketball District Champs (AND beat Hartland that year!), track invitationals all the way down the Mr. Milkovich math class. Today she finds herself organizing and managing 2,000+ athletes annually as Howell Recreations Sport Manager. In my free time I’m hanging with my Leader Dog for the Blind drop out, Otis (AKA Oatmeal).

Alumni Spotlight! Taylor Jacobsen! Class of 2017! While at LHS she enjoyed participating in the Oakland ACE Program through Lakeland and attending Girls State. She is currently a Veteran Affairs Attorney. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Isabella Busby-Priest! Class of 2014! I loved being part of theatre! Whether on stage or crew, it was always a blast and I’m still close with some of my fellow theatre kids more than a decade later. For the last 6 years I’ve been living in Spain. I currently live in Valencia where I work as a Content Manager at a local SaaS company. I spend my days working with my team in both English and Spanish and spend my free time reading, writing, traveling, and enjoying a slower pace of life. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Sophia Moyer! Class of 2024! Some good memories include meeting some of the most influential mentors in my life, and making the best memories. I am currently pursuing my education at GVSU and my my younger brother, Exavier Moyer, class of 2026, is at LHS.

Alumni Shoutout! Christina Truss-Welsh! Class of 2001! One of my fondest memories was making new friends. I also genuinely enjoyed many of my classes and teachers. Gaining a bit of independence in my classes helped me develop a stronger sense of who I am as a person. Currently I am the co-owner of the STS Athletic Complex in Highland! I have been in the Fitness and Restaurant Industries for 27 years Our facility offers a wide range of services, including youth athletic training, adult group fitness boot camps, personal training, and a 24/7 gym. We also feature a full-service restaurant and bar, as well as private event spaces. These include a Golf Simulator room with 4 simulators, and another versatile space for football bowling, cornhole, and events such as baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays, and sports banquets. Additionally, we have a beautiful patio with 2 outdoor sand volleyball courts.

Alumni Spotlight! Wes Hollowell! Class of 2022! His favorite memory from LHS was racing with my teammates at XC states in 2021. He is studying Computer Engineering while running XC and track at Oakland University . #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Jen (Lintol) Hollowell! Class of 1999! One of her memories from LHS was that there were so many Jennifer's in my class, Mr. Head renamed me STEVE. After many years in the classroom and Media Center with HVS, I am now working in the Main Office at LHS. I've been married 21 years and both of my sons, Wes 20 and Brady 18 are Lakeland graduates. #Lakeland50

Alumni Shoutout! Brennan Surman! Class of 2019! His best memory was playing at Comerica Park my senior year. He is currently a Police Officer at East Lansing PD getting my Master’s through MSU in Law Enforcement Intelligence & Analysis. His relatives currently at LHS are Alexis Zoltowski, Meadow Surman, and Ella Brigham. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Valerie Brothers (Farmer)! Class of 1993! Some great LHS memories were: I loved math class with Mr. Longcore. He inspired me to go into education. Valerie is speech-language pathologist in neighboring school district to HVS. My two daughters are Lakeland grads also--Olivia (2022) and Samantha (2024) #Lakeland50
