Graduation Requirements

Lakeland Graduation Requirements : Beginning with the Class of 2016, the H.V.S. Board of Education has approved new graduation requirements which includes a total of 22 credits required for graduation. Check your graduation requirements along with your transcript each year. If you feel you are not on track for graduation, make an appointment with your counselor immediately.

P.E. Waiver : It is a graduation requirement to take the Personal Fitness class. You may waive this requirement by completing a P.E. Waiver after four seasons of a school sponsored sport and/or marching band. The P.E. Waiver must be completed in your senior year.

Personal Curriculum : Personal Curriculum gives students the flexibility to modify state requirements. Personal Curriculum is an option any student or family can explore as a way to modify certain graduation requirements and earn a diploma. The Personal Curriculum is a process to modify specific credit requirements and/or content expectations based on the individual learning needs of a student. It is designed to serve students who want to accelerate or go beyond the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements and students who need to individualize learning requirements to meet the Michigan Merit Curriculum requirements.

  • Personal Curriculums are appropriate for very few students. If you have questions regarding the Personal Curriculum, please contact your student's counselor.

Alternative Education Options : If you are well behind on your graduation requirements, your counselor may suggest pursuing an alternative education setting such as Harbor High School or Graduation Alliance.

  • Harbor High School : Harbor High School is the alternative high school in Huron Valley. Harbor High School provides an opportunity for students to continue their education in a smaller, less traditional program. Students must complete Harbor High School graduation requirements. Call Harbor High School at 248.676.8421 to schedule an appointment.

  • Graduation Alliance : The Graduation Alliance online program is an accelerated credit recovery program. This program offers an option, for students behind on credits towards a diploma, to recover credits in a structured accelerated online platform.
