
As part of Safety Week here at HVS, Highland Twp. Fire Department Fire Marshall Sean came to Apollo to teach students about fire safety. They learned how to exit a space safely ("get out, stay out"), how to stop drop and roll, the importance of a family meeting spot!

Students in Harbor’s 21st Century Skills class are working on a public service announcement project. They are learning camera work, storyboards, writing, directing, and editing. Topics include mental health, bullying, dangers of vaping, and drug abuse awareness.

Wise words from Kurtz Elementary students at Monday night's board meeting.
The students talked about bullying, what it is and what we can do to help prevent it.
The students also encouraged everyone to wear orange on Wednesday, Oct. 19th to show their support to Stop Bullying.

Highland Elementary has a girls club, The Sisterhood of the Healthy Hounds.
They meet after school to learn how to be healthy, gain self confidence, and more. Last week the girls focused on working together and practiced with the human knot game.

Slimed for a good cause!
During the Lakeland High School pep assembly last week, there was a fundraising competition between staff members for Multiple Sclerosis. Libby Held, Assistant Principal at LHS won the competition, so she was slimed!

Fourth grade students at Country Oaks Elementary learned about erosion and deposition last week. They created replicas of a glacier and rushing river going down a slope.

Milford High School principal Kevin McKenna announced last week that Mallory Armstrong, Alexis Cornett, and Jillian Spray have been named Commended Students in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.


Kurtz Elementary first graders welcomed fall by celebrating Johnny Appleseed Day. The halls smelled of apples and cinnamon as students made applesauce in their classrooms.
