Casework Services
Huron Valley Youth Assistance (HVYA) provides free, confidential, short-term, family-centered counseling and referral services for young people, 17 years of age or younger and their families, who live in the Huron Valley School District. Referrals are typically received from schools, police, and parents who are concerned about the behavior of a young person. The Family Division’s Intake Unit diverts cases when, in their judgement, Youth Assistance services are most appropriate. Typical reasons for referral include school and home problems, substance abuse, retail fraud, and violations of local ordinances. Click HERE to make a referral.
Scholarships
To be considered for a HVYA scholarship the following criteria must be met:
The child is a resident of the Huron Valley School District.
The child is under the age of 18.
The child's household income falls within HUD income limits.
Skill Building:
HVYA provides scholarships to youth who would benefit from a positive learning experience, designed to enhance their self-esteem and develop a specific skill. Scholarships can be used for tutoring, sports, dance, music, art, or other skill building activities. Click HERE to apply.
Camp:
Camp scholarships are provided to young people who would benefit from either a day camp or overnight experience.
Youth Recognition
HVYA hosts an annual event in which we recognize young people for making positive contributions to the community. Nominations are received from schools and other civic organizations.
Family Education
HVYA offers a variety of programs aimed at enhancing parenting skills, improving parent-child communication, understanding child development, and offering useful guidance for navigating difficult situations.
