Students at International Academy-West recently came together for one of the school’s favorite traditions — the IA Olympics, a celebration of friendly competition, school spirit and community.
The event gives students an opportunity to step away from the demands of the classroom and compete alongside classmates in a lively atmosphere filled with games, music, cheers and plenty of school pride.
Because International Academy-West serves students from multiple home districts, including many who attend through Schools of Choice, the school does not have a traditional homecoming. The IA Olympics provides its own unique way to celebrate school spirit and bring the school community together.
As the competition gets underway, students rally behind their grade levels, cheering on classmates and doing their best to show their spirit. For many, the event creates lasting memories that stay with them long after the games are over.
Students say the Olympics is about more than winning. It is an opportunity to connect with classmates across grade levels and strengthen the close-knit culture that makes International Academy-West special.
With the school’s rigorous academic curriculum, the Olympics also offers a welcome break from the pressures of coursework and tests, allowing students to relax, have fun and enjoy a little friendly rivalry.
Through laughter, teamwork and spirited competition, the IIA Olympics continues to be a cherished tradition that celebrates the connections and school pride at the heart of International Academy-West.
