What’s it really like to drive a school bus?
Huron Valley Schools Board of Education Vice President Lindsay Cotter recently found out — and got a firsthand look at what it takes to get students safely to school each day.
Cotter took a turn behind the wheel, trading her usual boardroom seat for the driver’s seat and experiencing the size, handling and responsibility that come with operating a school bus.
While navigating a school bus may look easy from the passenger seat, Cotter discovered there’s more to the job than simply turning the key and hitting the road. Bus drivers need patience, focus, skill and a strong commitment to student safety.
And, of course, it helps to enjoy being around kids!
