While many students are enjoying a traditional summer break, Huron Valley Schools' English Language Development (ELD) Summer Program is giving multilingual learners the opportunity to continue building their skills through engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Designed to strengthen English language development while keeping students connected to learning, the program combines classroom instruction with real-world exploration. Throughout the summer, students are participating in science investigations, literacy activities, collaborative learning experiences, and educational field trips that bring classroom lessons to life.

From conducting experiments and working together on language-based projects to visiting destinations like the Detroit Zoo and Cranbrook, students are expanding their vocabulary, practicing communication skills, and making meaningful connections with their peers.

"Learning doesn't stop when summer begins," said ELD Coordinator Saniya Ellis. "We still have more exciting learning ahead, and it's been wonderful to watch our students embrace every opportunity this summer."

The program emphasizes learning through discovery, encouraging students to ask questions, solve problems, and apply their language skills in authentic settings. These experiences not only support academic growth but also help students develop confidence and build lasting friendships.

By blending meaningful classroom instruction with memorable summer adventures, Huron Valley Schools' ELD Summer Program ensures multilingual learners continue growing academically while creating experiences they'll remember long after summer ends.
