Following a comprehensive interview process, Tallon was selected to lead the school beginning with the 2026-27 school year. A dedicated educator and longtime member of the Huron Valley Schools family, she brings a wealth of experience, leadership and a deep connection to the district.

Tallon’s appointment marks a full-circle moment in her educational journey. A former Country Oaks Elementary student and Lakeland High School graduate, she is remaining in the district that helped shape her own educational experience.

Throughout her career with Huron Valley Schools, Tallon has served in a variety of roles, including 10 years as a teacher at Johnson Elementary School, a Gifted and Talented teacher, and most recently as a Teacher Leader. She is also a graduate of the district’s Galileo leadership program, which prepares future educational leaders through professional learning and mentorship opportunities.

“Debbie has done an outstanding job in each of her various roles within the district,” said Superintendent Dr. Paul Salah. “I am confident she is ready to become the next principal of Country Oaks Elementary School.”

Tallon said she is excited to work alongside the Country Oaks staff, students and families and looks forward to building on the school’s strong tradition of student success.
