Cracked windshield and student acting unconscious during a simulation of a car crash

Students at Huron Valley Schools watched in silence as a mock car crash simulation unfolded outside Milford High School, delivering a powerful message about the dangers of drunk and reckless driving ahead of prom season.

The realistic dramatization portrayed the aftermath of a deadly crash involving students following a fictional prom after-party near downtown Milford. Emergency sirens filled the air as student actors and first responders recreated the devastating consequences of impaired driving while hundreds of students looked on.

In the scenario, a student chose to drive after drinking alcohol, believing he was still capable behind the wheel. Moments later, he ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle carrying other students from Milford High.

As student witnesses in the simulation called 9-1-1, police officers, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene, working against what medical personnel described as the “golden hour of trauma” — the critical period immediately following a serious crash.

The dramatization detailed the severe injuries sustained by passengers involved in the collision. One student actor portrayed a victim suffering life-threatening internal injuries, while another represented a passenger left paralyzed. A third victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Throughout the presentation, narration explained how alcohol impairs reaction time, judgment and visibility, emphasizing how one poor decision can permanently alter lives and devastate families and communities.

Students watched as emergency crews extricated victims from the vehicles and simulated lifesaving efforts, creating an emotional and sobering experience intended to leave a lasting impact before upcoming prom celebrations and graduation events.

Organizers concluded the event with a message urging students to make safe choices, never drive impaired and always think before getting behind the wheel.

“The emotional scars left behind by drunk and reckless driving are often invisible, but they can last a lifetime,” the narrator told students during the presentation.

The mock crash simulation served as both an educational opportunity and a reminder that decisions made in seconds can have lifelong consequences.
