Huron Valley Schools is alerting families about possible changes to the free breakfast and lunch program that has been available to all students in Michigan for the past several years.

The program, funded through the Michigan School Meals Program, has provided no-cost meals to students statewide. However, its continuation depends on the state’s School Aid Budget, which has not yet been finalized.

For now, students will continue to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. If the program is not renewed once the budget is complete, families who do not qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on income will be charged full price.

District officials are urging all families—regardless of income—to complete the Child Nutrition and Education Benefit Application. While this application determines eligibility for free or reduced-price meals, it also unlocks a range of other educational and household benefits, including:

  • Reduced fees for AP exams and college applications

  • Discounts on pay-to-participate activity fees

  • Access to programs offering food support, field trip assistance, school supplies, and holiday support

  • Potential discounts on household cable and internet

  • Additional funding for schools through Title I

The application is available through Family Access in the Online Process section or you can click this link Free & Reduced Meal Application Form
