Anna Moreno

Each time this year the Michigan Association of School Social Workers announces their region winners for School Social Worker of the Year. Huron Valley Schools is proud to announce that Anna Moreno, school social worker at Johnson Elementary, was named this year’s Michigan Association of School Social Workers Region F (Oakland County) School Social Worker of the year!

Anna has been a dedicated social worker in Huron Valley since 1995. Nancy Willyard, social worker at Country Oaks, shared that "Anna has been a driving force within our cohort, district, and community relative to best practices and knowledge of community resources.  Anna is well known and respected for her clinical expertise as well as for her devotion to the students, families, and staff that she serves." Advocating for others is at the heart of what she does each day.

In addition to her work at Johnson, for many years Anna has been a mentor to some of our new Huron Valley social workers. Anna is the perfect example of a mentor as she is kind, caring, approachable and extremely knowledgeable. She creates a welcoming environment for our new social workers and she relishes in building relationships with them.

We are grateful that Anna is a part of our Huron Valley staff, and her knowledge and passion has been recognized beyond the Valley. Our Huron Valley school social workers are a stand-out group in Oakland County as Anna is the fourth social worker from Huron Valley over the past 9 years to win the MASSW Region 7 Social Worker of the Year. She is following in the footsteps of Nancy Willyard from Country Oaks in 2014, Jennifer Hollander from Muir in 2017, and most recently, Brian Dawson from Harbor and White Lake in 2019.
