Alumni Spotlight! Class of 2014 Kalie Marantette. Kalie is an evening anchor and investigative reporter at WTOL 11 in Toledo Ohio. She won a National Edward R. Murrow award for a months long investigation into sexual assaults happening at Cedar Point employee dorms. The investigation led to the elimination of the Cedar Point Police Department. WTOL 11 sued Cedar Point for records that were eventually granted after winning an Ohio Supreme Court case. It is the only National Edward R. Murrow award ever won in Toledo history. Some of her work includes exposing crooked contractors, non-profits pocketing money and poor hiring practices at police departments. #Lakeland50

Alumni Spotlight! Rianna Koteles Class of 2017!
She says "I have so many fond memories at Lakeland High School so its hard to narrow it down. Some of my favorite moments though were spent the semesters in Leadership Class with Scott Rolando, planning for the 2016 Homecoming with a theme of Rio Olympics. Creating decorations, planning logistics, while being surrounded by like minded people and great friends is something I'll cherish forever.
Another fond memory of mine was attending Communication Camp. This was a camp that students from different "groups, cliques, and backgrounds" were selected to attend an overnight camp connecting and getting to know students of different backgrounds and interest. Completely out of my comfort zone, I found myself connecting and sharing some of my deepest fears, secrets, and vulnerabilities with classmates I had only known for 24 hours. Those connections lasted well beyond the camp weekend and gave me a new perspective on life.
Lastly, one of my greatest joys and memories was participating in the Prom Fashion Show my senior year. This year instead of the senior class voting on who got to participate, it was selected by a council. I was honored to represent my class, and creating excitement for Prom. Getting the chance to try on dresses at David's Bridal then preforming on stage allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and have a unforgettable time. "
Today, I now live in Florida and coach college softball at Ave Maria University. After earning my degree in education and being voted "Senior most likely to return as a Lakeland staff member," I would have never thought my life would lead me in this direction. I am so grateful to live a life "teaching" in a field that I am so passionate in. Without the mentorships of Lakeland Staff members, Scott Rolando, Michelle Leitheim, and Joe Alsup I wouldn't be where I am today. Each teaching me the skills it takes to be a leader, a hard worker, and instill confidence in myself. "
