On 3/3/2022 the Lakeland wind ensemble performed at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Festival at Waterford Kettering HS. The group had an incredible performance and what Mr. Green considers to be perhaps their strongest showing in his 25 years with them. They earned straight Division 1 Superior ratings (based on 1-5, with 1 being the highest rating). They also earned all A's from all the judges in every subcategory! With COVID, the bands have been hit hard and the entire performance world for the last two years has been impacted, but he and we could not be more proud of their efforts to prepare for today!
Because of Covid, bands could choose any classification of music they wanted (classification is determined by difficultly of the music) and they only had to perform 2 songs. Being who Lakeland is, they performed a piece in their Classification (class A) and also performed 3 songs as they would normally regardless of the adjustment so they can continue to prepare for their best now and in the future. Congratulations Wind Ensemble!
