This past Friday was the MSBOA District IV Solo and Ensemble Festival at Walled Lake Central. Our band students from IA West, Lakeland, and Milford had a great showing this year.
We had 88 individual performances within 35 events this year!!!
Our students received medals for 85 out of 88 performances!!!
70 of these were Superior Ratings (I), which is the highest rating!!!
15 were Excellent Rating (II), which is the next highest!!!
As a comparison, last year we had 62 performances, with 36 receiving Superior Ratings, and 22 with excellent ratings. We almost doubled the number of Superior Ratings.
I am beyond proud of all of the students who participated. Most of this work is done outside the school day, on their own time and preparation, and commitment to doing their absolute best!
Congratulations to these outstanding students from all 3 of our programs. ALL of the Superior Ratings awarded qualify for State Solo and Ensemble next month!

This past Saturday the Huron Valley Winter Guard competed at the MCGC Reeths-Puffer Invitational in Muskegon. The guard had a great performance, and finished in 1st place again in their competition! They are off to a great start, winning both competitions they've attended so far, and they are continuing to work incredibly hard every single week! Good luck to both our guards this weekend as they compete at home in the Milford Invitational on Saturday at MHS!!!
