Last week was festival week for the choirs and it was a huge success.
On Wednesday, Concert Choir (our high voice entry level ensemble) and Lakeland Singers (our advanced mixed ensemble) performed at MSVMA District Choral Festival at Kettering High School. Both ensembles received a I-Excellent rating. In addition, Lakeland Singers received a perfect 30/30 score on their Sight Reading component, something we are particularly proud of.
On Friday, Bluebirds (our auditioned high voice ensemble, consisting of 9 Lakeland and 4 IA students), performed at State Solo and Ensemble at Madonna University. The group received an extremely high score of 116/120, including a perfect score on their performance component. One of the judges wrote only one word in the comments section of his sheet: "Wow!"
For a long, long time these things did not happen at LHS and IA-West. We have looked at our program as being engaged in a long-range rebuild. But now we are starting to see the progress and we all are enjoying it immensely. Thank you!!
