HVU Boys Swim State Team 2022

The Huron Valley United Boys Swim and Dive team concluded its season at the MHSAA Division 1 State championships at the Holland Aquatic Center this past weekend.

The team had a showing to remember, Senior Fletcher Smith brought home a pair of All State honors in the 200 Freestyle (5th) and 100 Butterfly (3rd) both in Team record times.

He was joined by Seniors Hassan Ezzeddine and Lorenzo Giovannelli plus Junior Mason Brow to deliver a new team record in the 200 Freestyle relay to qualify for Saturdays championship round. The team would go on to medal with a 16th place finish.

But they didn’t stop there, Freshman Brendan Marshall teamed up with Smith, Brow and Ezzeddine for the final swimming event, the 400 Freestyle relay, where they again delivered a team record performance to qualify for the second day’s finals. This team also brought home a 16th place medal.

On the boards, Junior Divers Hunter Houser and Alex Broadwater gave it their best facing stiff competition from around the state, placing 34th and 29th, respectively.

Overall the team scored 34 points to place 20th overall, which is the most a boys swim team from the district has ever scored at the Division 1 championship meet. This was also the first time the district has had a boys relay team, let alone two relays place in the finals at the Division 1 state meet and these teams are now the fastest two boys relays in Huron Valley Schools history.

Congratulations to the team on an amazing end to an incredible season that saw a them finish a program best 2nd overall in the LVC,
