The Lakeland High School Charter Class of 1976 is preparing to celebrate a milestone this fall as alumni gather for their 50th class reunion on October 9-10, 2026.
The reunion marks five decades since the school's first graduating class and will also welcome members of the Classes of 1977, 1978 and 1979, who attended Lakeland during its inaugural years. Former teachers and administrators who helped shape the school's early history are also invited to take part in the celebration.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, Oct. 9, with a Classmates Golf Scramble at 10 a.m. at Brentwood Golf Club in White Lake. Later that evening, alumni are encouraged to attend Lakeland High School's Homecoming Parade at 5:45 p.m. on campus, followed by the Eagles' football game against Livonia Franklin High School at 7 p.m.
During the game, members of Lakeland's first football team and cheerleading squad will be recognized on the field between the first and second quarters. Following the recognition, classmates are invited to continue the celebration with an informal gathering at the White Lake Inn Restaurant and Bar.
The reunion celebration continues on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. at The Lift Bar and Restaurant inside the STS Athletic Complex in Highland. Admission is $10 at the door and includes complimentary appetizers. A cash bar and full dinner menu will also be available.
Organizers say the weekend is designed to reconnect classmates, celebrate Lakeland High School's rich history and honor the friendships and memories formed during the school's earliest years.
The Charter Class extends a warm invitation to all alumni from the Classes of 1976 through 1979, as well as former teachers, administrators and staff who were part of Lakeland's opening years.
