Lakeland High School Student Awarded Prestigious National Honor Society Scholarship

White Lake, MI – The National Honor Society (NHS) announced that Bryce Cleasby, a high school senior at Lakeland High School and member of NHS, has been selected as an NHS Scholarship semifinalist.

Since 1946, more than $25 million in scholarships have been awarded to outstanding NHS senior members to support college access and student success. The scholarship program is supported by the parent organization of NHS, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

In the 100+ years since NHS was founded in 1921, members have been making a difference in
their schools and communities, and the NHS Scholarship is NASSP’s way of recognizing the most exceptional of these student leaders. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated work to support the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

“Bryce has a natural ability to connect within his community. He genuinely makes everyone
feel respected and valued,” said Libby Held, LHS Principal.

At Lakeland High School, Bryce Cleasby is the President of NHS and serves as Community team chairperson. This school year, he has helped organize a Thanksgiving Food Drive, a Holiday Toy Drive and a Holiday Outreach to an area nursing home. Bryce also serves on the HV Coalition Board and the Village Fine Arts Association. While still considering his options, Bryce has narrowed down his college choices to U of M or Oakland University. He plans on studying Psychology and continue his education to become a physician’s associate.
