DRAWING & PAINTING

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 
Required Pre-Requisite: Fundamentals of Art and Design 
FEE: $30 

Students will advance their ability and understanding of 2-D art using different drawing and painting mediums and processes. This course will further explore the Elements of Art and Principles of Design by completing a variety of drawing and painting projects. Students will develop a strong sense of design through decision-making and problem-solving projects that may include media such as, graphite, oil pastel, colored pencil, chalk pastel, and charcoal. This course will also be devoted to developing painting skills and techniques using acrylic and watercolor paints. Students will explore the style of many artists throughout history, while strengthening their own skills. The subjects considered and studied are, landscapes, still-life, people/animals and abstraction. Students will learn how to exhibit, present, and publish quality works of art. Willingness to get involved in the creative process and higher level learning is a requirement. Students must be a dedicated art student with a genuine interest in learning about art principles and media techniques in drawing and painting. A lab fee is required.

ADVANCED DRAWING & PAINTING 

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 
Required Pre-Requisite: Fundamentals of Art and Design & Drawing and Painting 
FEE: $35

Students will advance their ability and understanding of 2-D art using different drawing and painting mediums and processes. This course will further explore the Elements of Art and Principles of Design by completing a variety of drawing and painting projects at an advanced level. Emphasis will be placed on students self-direction and independent work based on their level. Students will develop a strong sense of design through decision-making and problem-solving projects that may include media such as, graphite, oil pastel, colored pencil, chalk pastel, and charcoal. This course will also be devoted to developing painting skills and techniques using acrylic and watercolor paints. Students will explore the style of many artists throughout history, while strengthening their own skills.
