Milford High’s very own Laylah Zamora has been selected to represent Michigan at the National Miss Amazing 2024 summit coordinated by Miss Amazing. The summit is in Chicago from July 26-28. Laylah is a 14-year-old freshman at MHS with Down Syndrome. In her first time participating in Michigan Miss Amazing she won Junior Teen Queen. Laylah could use some help getting to Chicago. It will cost $4,000 to cover travel and lodging for this queen and one guest. With your help Laylah will make it to Chicago and help open doors for girls with disabilities nationally. Milford's Paige Philipp and Quinn Taylor performed this past weekend at a percussion festival sponsored by Oakland University, held at Rochester Adams High School. The event sponsor reached out and asked our percussion ensembles to perform based on their performances earlier this year at MSBOA State Solo and Ensemble. We had three events perform that included 10 students from our programs, representing IA, LHS, and MHS. The students did a tremendous job and were professionals all day long. They experienced performances by other high school and university groups, a workshop, master class, and much more. This wasn't a competition, was a completely added on event to their already busy lives, and they were simply amazing! In the words of the sponsoring director, " Thank you for coming out our way to attend! All of your students sounded incredible, I was really blown away. They all had such great questions as well, you really have something incredible happening in your percussion department."

One of Milford High School’s own, Lily Hardin, a sophomore, was recently awarded with admission into the prestigious Parrhesia Ambassador Program held on the campus of the University of Chicago. According to the University of Chicago, The Parrhesia program is “Rooted in the University of Chicago Principles of Free Expression, the Parrhesia Program offers an innovative curriculum in the theory and practice of public discourse and deliberation. Parrhesia, to speak freely and openly, signifies our commitment to open and vigorous civic deliberation and dialogue.” This summer, Lily will be attending the program for an entire week. She will be surrounded by many of America’s future leaders and scholars while attending this program, to inspire change through public discourse and civic engagement. We are all very proud of Lily’s achievement as she represents the Milford High School community.
