March isn't just for basketball! The Fall Musical bracket is getting updated daily - the excitement is real!

Ms. Hemmerling's AP Calculus class designed team t-shirts to support each other's success on the AP Calculus exam this May. The front consists of a smiling piecewise function and a reference to mathematician Guillaume L'Hospital. Each student's name is listed on the back. These students are excited for AP Calc!

Both groups were out again, yesterday, March 19, at the Troy Athens show. JV finished 4th and Varsity finished in 3rd place. Let's share some exciting news for the Vocal Music Program!
On January 27 & 28 Milford students hosted and participated in MSVMA’s solo and ensemble. 30 students helped run the event in the CPA, along with 4 Lakeland students, Mr. Nelson, Lakeland’s Choir director, and Mrs. Gallagher, Muir’s director. At Milford, 16 students competed as soloists, and each received a “1” rating, which is the highest rating a student can receive. 5 of these students received perfect scores on their performance!
The students that performed were Ivy Williams, Jillian Armstrong, Grant Camden, Lauren Gates, Austin Matlis, Ella Maiberger, Matthew Stewart, Joe Meagher, Brendan Stewart, Aubrey Snavely, Savannah Lane, Abbie Hess, Bethany Stewart, Allison Mobey, Amelia Dalbis, and Shea Giese.
Over Mid Winter Break, the Advanced Choirs went to Disney! 38 students attended this trip where they had four days to explore each of the four parks. On this trip, they were provided with the opportunity to perform on a stage at Disney Springs earning a plethora of support from their acquired audience. Students also got the opportunity to attend a workshop in which they learned and recorded a medley in an official recording studio, leaving them with new skills and lifelong memories.
The Concert Choir (first year choir members) traveled to Waterford Kettering on March 6, and received a “1” rating for District Choral Festival. Some of the judges comments were: “Wonderful vibrance and energy to the sound!”, “Beautiful energy!”, and “Wonderful soloists!” Additionally students were met with a very enthusiastic clinician leaving them feeling inspired and eager for their upcoming years in our program. Additionally, the Concert Choir students decided they would be taking the opportunity to perform at the State Choral Festival.
POPS THIS WEEKEND! The Advanced Choirs have been working tirelessly to put together our annual Pops show. A Grand Night for singing will be March 17th @ 7pm, March 18th @ 2pm & 7pm! This includes selections from Center Stage, Choraleers, soloists, duets & more! This is our wonderful accompanist, Brenda Granroth’s, final Pops with us before her retirement. Her 20+ years with us have been greatly appreciated and her impact on our program will never be forgotten.
Thank you all for always supporting The Arts in Huron Valley. We can't do it alone, and I thank the administration, board members, teachers, families, and community for all their help and support.

Ten Milford High School students participated in an 11 hour interactive training, between Sunday and Monday, where they learned methods for teaching resistance skills to 5th grade students. The students broke up into two teams to learn the concepts and skills, then practiced the lesson they will teach to students. The focus of their lesson is on peer pressure and refusal techniques for saying no to alcohol and other peer pressures such as vaping. The high school students had a lot of fun and are looking forward to presenting to the 5th graders across the district.

Congratulations to the Huron Valley HOT Robotics team on their big wins this weekend. Our team plowed through the Milford District event undefeated, winning the tournament and earning the district Engineering Inspiration award! Who's HOT? We're HOT!

MHS Career Expo 2023 a success! We had over 300 eleventh grade students attend a keynote session with Milford alum Ben Stephenson, Vice President, Global Practice Lead for Kelly Science and Clinical Research. Ben spoke to the students about goal setting and how to plan for the future.
After hearing the keynote speaker, students had the opportunity to explore more than 80 local businesses as they had set up booths for the students to visit and talk with.
The goal of the career expo is for students to explore career and education options and to think about which option is the best fit for them after they graduate from high school. They were seeded with the question "What path will you take to obtain the career and lifestyle that you want? It’s up to you to create the life that you want!"
Thought options included:
On the job training
Certification program
Apprenticeship
Vocational/trade school
Military
Community College
Four year university
Possible question topics for the career presenters: Education or degree required, average wage, job duties, potential for advancement, job satisfaction.
Possible question topics for the post-secondary institutions: Admissions requirements, tuition and room/board costs, majors or programs offered, financial aid and scholarships available, extracurricular activities offered.
Thank you to Ms. Engel and the CTE team for putting on this very successful event for the Junior class!

Every so often, a piece of theatre comes along that has the opportunity to have an everlasting impact on those who view it. Whether it's calling attention to a particular issue or presenting cautionary tales, these pieces educate and inform through empathy and insight. The Milford High School Theatre Company will present The Triangle Factory Fire Project (a re-telling of the tragic 1911 factory fire that had social, political, & economic repercussions that have lasted to this day) at the MHS Performing Arts Center on March 3, 2023 at 7:00pm and March 4, 2023 at 1:00pm & 7:00pm. Tickets are available online at www.mhsperformingarts.com and they will also be available at the door.
