Three Muir 8th graders test water at the Indian Springs lab

The 8th grade Environmental Science classes  had the opportunity to learn about water quality through a field trip to Indian Springs Metropark. At the Huron River headwaters, students learned about wetlands, watersheds and did some water quality testing.  They were able to do chemical testing on two different wetlands and observe other indicators about the water quality.  Students identified and inspected benthic macroinvertebrates using Indian Springs' well-equipped lab. Our 8th graders were able to go under the pond in their observation room and walk around the property. They now have a better understanding of the watershed we live in and why its health is important to us all.
