Choir

From the desk of Milford High School's choir teacher, Brittany Miller:

Good Afternoon!

I wanted to share some exciting news for the Vocal Music Program! 14 students from Milford submitted audition videos and were accepted into a Musical Theatre Intensive workshop that took place on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Portage High School.  This clinic was hosted by four professors from the University of Michigan’s Musical Theatre & Theatre Department, and live pianists from the University.

This workshop afforded the opportunity for 120 students from the state to sing a 32 bar cut for one professor.   The professor then worked with the student(s) on technique, expression, phrasing, movement, etc.  This experience equated to an authentic audition experience with a live piano player, and some very valuable feedback!  At the end of the day, the professors deliberated and chose 8 students to perform for the group.  Two Milford students, Jillian Armstrong and Ben Mondrush, were chosen!  From these eight performances, two students were chosen to sing at the Michigan Music Conference in January.   Our own Milford High School’s Jillian Armstrong was selected for this honor!  If you would like to hear Jillian’s award-winning voice, and her many talented peers, please join us in November when Milford High School presents Irving Berlin’s White Christmas.

The 14 students were: Jillian Armstrong, Ben Mondrush, Vivian Lakin, Joe Meagher, Peyton Wheeler, Aubrey Snavely, Ivy Williams, Shea Giese, Brendan Stewart, Amelia Dalbis, Savannah Lane, Lauren Gates, Charlie Allinder, and Simon Williams(IA).

This was such a fantastic way to begin the year!  I could not be prouder to be a Huron Valley teacher; I am honored to work and teach such talented and amazing students!

Thank you all for always supporting The Arts in Huron Valley.  We can't do it alone, and I thank the administration, board members, teachers, families, and community for all their help and support.

A special thanks to Mrs.Granroth and Mrs. Lambrecht for attending the conference with us.   They are invaluable to our success.
