Milford High School Sophomore Carter Swarthout wowed the crowd and judges during his evaluation at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Competition for the 2026 Outstanding Soloist. Carter was selected to be within the top 14 finalists.
109 students took part in this year's competition hosted by Eastern Michigan University on April 26th. There were 16 adjudicators that participants were judged by. Carter's Director Kristin Blanchard was surprised he did not make the top four, stating "he did an amazing job!"
Congratulations to Carter and all of these students, programs and their directors on an outstanding display of musicianship and professionalism!
