This weekend was the MSBOA District IV Solo and Ensemble Festival at Novi. Huron Valley Schools had an incredible turnout, with over 54 events that included, in total, over 148 total student performances! Of those performances, 52/54 events medaled, with 37 of them receiving Superior Ratings (Division I Rating) which is the highest rating possible, another 15 receiving Excellent Ratings (Division II Rating) which is the next highest, and 2 events receiving a Good Rating (Division III). Ratings are out of a 1 - 5 scale, with Division I being the highest possible.
This means that 143 individual medals were handed out to HVS students from LHS, IAW, and MHS! As a comparison, in 2025, HVS had 38 total events with 96 individual performances. We have increased 54% over last year's participation alone.
The 37 events that received superior ratings (110 individual medals out of 143) qualified for State Solo and Ensemble on March 21, 2026!
A special recognition to our Sax Quartet! Between the four of them, they participated in 16 total events! Bella Philipp, who not only performed the maximum number of events, but also received 5 Superior Ratings for all her events! Very few students have accomplished this.
