Let's give a high-five to some of our youngest learners: At Kurtz Elementary, kindergarteners have been working hard to learn about vowels. Students learned a fun song called “Vowel Bat” and even made some cool vowel shields to help them remember the vowel sounds! #HVSProud

Art students at Kurtz Elementary are grateful for the donation of beautiful paper from local watercolor artist and designer Kelly Ventura. First grade students recently completed a work of multi-media collage art inspired by Henri Matisse’s 1912 Goldfish painting. The addition of Ventura’s lovely floral, natural motifs and gestural patterned papers added the perfect touch to their finished work!

First graders were invited to visit Village Dental in Milford last week. Every year, Village Dental transforms the office into an amazing theme full of costumed characters, props and special activities to teach healthy dental habits. This year the theme was Lego! This is by far one of our favorite field trips! We toured the dental office and learned the importance of dental hygiene and how to keep our mouths healthy! Not only does this field trip encourage lifelong healthy habits and supports the first grade health/science unit called Personal Health and Wellness, it also helps us build community connections. Thank you, Village Dental!
