Congratulations to Carter Sternfels and Brennan Kennedy for earning the Student in the Spotlight for April. Both boys have been tutoring 1st graders in math. Keep up the great work!
We are collecting cereal boxes this week for Community Sharing. Our goal is to collect 400 boxes. Thank you for your support.
Art students at Kurtz Elementary are grateful for the donation of beautiful paper from local watercolor artist and designer Kelly Ventura. First grade students recently completed a work of multi-media collage art inspired by Henri Matisse’s 1912 Goldfish painting. The addition of Ventura’s lovely floral, natural motifs and gestural patterned papers added the perfect touch to their finished work!
Kindergarten students love tech time. They are learning to use chrome books and computer mice.
First graders were invited to visit Village Dental in Milford last week. Every year, Village Dental transforms the office into an amazing theme full of costumed characters, props and special activities to teach healthy dental habits. This year the theme was Lego! This is by far one of our favorite field trips! We toured the dental office and learned the importance of dental hygiene and how to keep our mouths healthy! Not only does this field trip encourage lifelong healthy habits and supports the first grade health/science unit called Personal Health and Wellness, it also helps us build community connections. Thank you, Village Dental!
Kindergarten Orientation is at 6:00 in the cafeteria here at Kurtz Elementary. You can find more information on this link: https://5il.co/176a8
First graders love to hear books read out loud. Happy March is Reading Month!
Construction is in full swing at Kurtz Elementary.
It's National School Social Work Week, and at HVS, we have some of the best. These professionals help students deal with mental health and behavioral challenges and provide academic and classroom support. They also help in developing education policies and work with teams to support crisis interventions. Thank you, HVS social workers! #HVSProud
The Kurtz book fair ends Friday, March 4. If your child has not had a chance to shop, Friday will be their last chance. Happy Reading!
Greetings everyone! Construction at Kurtz is about to start. PLEASE take extra caution and drive slowly in the pick-up/drop-off lane. This is the time to be patient, follow our protocols, and make sure your child enters and exits your vehicle quickly in order to keep the traffic circle moving.
Our 5th graders are raising funds to purchase Rubik’s Cubes for a passion project they are working on. All staff and students are encouraged to donate a dollar to the cause and wear a hat to school this Friday.
We're sending a great big 'Thank You!' to all HVS bus drivers and transportation staff today. Not only do they travel a combined 7,000 miles every day to get our students safely to and from school, field trips and sporting events, they also go above and beyond to support HVS families with their Angel Tree project every year. #HVSProud
