5th Grade Bottle and Can Drive This Weekend: Please see the attached flyer

We will be holding another Bottle and Can Drive the weekend of 2/17. All proceeds collected will go to support 5th graders going to camp in the spring. We were able to collect $873 in the first round.

Thank you to all of our families and staff members who dropped off their cans and bottles. In addition, thank you to the Spangler family for taking the lead on this fundraiser. We appreciate you!

Positivity Project:

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Humility. Humility means you do not seek the spotlight. You let your actions speak for themselves.

Humble people have an accurate (not underestimated) sense of their abilities and achievements. They hold the capacity to acknowledge their mistakes and limitations, and are open to advice and new ideas. They do not show off their possessions or accomplishments.

Developing humility is associated with positive developmental outcomes in individuals. It allows a person to honestly reflect on their abilities and acknowledge how and where they can improve. Humility opens them up to new ideas, advice, and (consequently) abilities that pride, arrogance, or pretentiousness often block. Therefore, humility makes them desired members of a team.

To practice and encourage the character strength of humility with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2) where together you will watch a video, read a quote and talk about the answers to three questions.

Volunteers Needed at Lunch and Recess:

We are looking for parents that are interested and willing to volunteer at lunch and recess. We have room to accommodate those volunteers that would like to help indoors or outdoors. As with any volunteering position, you must have a cleared CRC on file with the Main Office. Please reach out to Mrs. Greenleaf if you would like to help out. We are flexible and open to whatever works with your schedule.

Lunch Hours are 11:45-2:00 pm/ daily

March is Reading Month:

With the month of March right around the corner, we will once again be celebrating literacy and hosting a Family Literacy Night in April. Please look for additional information to come home soon.

In addition, we will be bringing in an author for our 3rd-5th grade students in early March.

Kids Heart Challenge:

Thank you once again to all of our families for donating towards this wonderful cause and attending our KHC last Saturday, in addition to Mrs. Page for leading this great fundraiser! We hit our goal. Way to go Owls!

Raised $12,553.62

Goal $12,000.00

Enjoy your long weekend! See you on Wednesday!
