It's National School Social Work Week, and at HVS, we have some of the best. These professionals help students deal with mental health and behavioral challenges and provide academic and classroom support. They also help in developing education policies and work with teams to support crisis interventions. Thank you, HVS social workers! #HVSProud

Last week we had a our big kick off for One Book, One School! This year, we are reading "The One and Only Ivan" by Katherine Applegate and illustrated by Patricia Castelao. One of our 5th Graders acted out part of the book for the school at our assembly. Have you seen the movie or read the book before?

First Graders in Mrs. Currie's class investigated sounds and vibrations in science. They created sounds with different objects as instruments (rubber bands, rulers, tin pans and balloon drums). and observed how the instruments make sound when different parts of it vibrate.

Our 5th graders will be headed to camp soon! If you have cans or bottles you would like to donate they will be collecting on Friday, February 18th from 3-5 with a drive-thru drop off in the parking lot near the water tower. Early drop-offs can be brought to Lakewood Elementary anytime prior to the event. There is a blue recycle bin by the schools front doors for any donations.
