Each year, the staff at Kurtz completes a comprehensive student placement process. Our focus is on looking at all kinds of information, data and parent input in order to make sure our class rosters are thoughtful, intentional and set up to ensure the highest degree of success possible for each and every Kurtz Cougar. As valued members of our team, we are asking parents of students that will be attending Kurtz Elementary School in the 2026-27 school year to consider sharing placement thoughts with your child's current teacher. Their understanding of parents' thoughts is the best way to ensure thoughts are thoroughly consider in the placement process.

Our Student Profile form is also a way to get thoughts across to the sending team before rosters are created. It is very important to understand that we do not take requests, but are diligent about trying to create the most balanced classes possible at Kurtz. Filling out a form or communicating with a teacher or staff member should never be considered the end of the rostering process for any child or children. It is also very important to note that once rosters are created, we do not make changes to the thoughtful rosters that have been established. We believe that our process has lead to outstanding experiences for our students and does lead to well balanced classrooms that our students thrive in. We thank you in advance for your input and for your support of our comprehensive process.
