A reminder for all students that are candidates for graduation at the end of first trimester: November 10 is the last day you are required to attend. You must be passing all your classes, otherwise you must still attend during finals week.

Representatives from Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School will be visiting Harbor on Monday, November 6 during third hour to deliver a presentation about their program to any interested students. See Mrs. Behen if you would like to attend.

Spirit week starts October 23! Here are the daily dress up themes: Monday 10/23 - Pajama day Tuesday 10/24 - Students dress like staff Wednesday 10/25 - Design your own shirt Thursday 10/26 - Purple vs. Orange Friday 10/27 - Halloween costumes (no masks or weapons please!)

October is National Bullying Prevention month. Bullying is unacceptable and comments or conduct that disparages or demonstrates hostility or aversion should not be tolerated. By being accepting, kind and inclusive, you can help make the world a better place. Together we can create a world without bullying!

October is National School Principal Month. Thank you Mr. Dowker for being an amazing principal! We appreciate everything you do to make Harbor a great place!

Reminder: Tuesday October 10th is a half day for Harbor students. Dismissal will be a noon. Wednesday, October 11th is a professional development day for HHS staff, no school for Harbor students.

Attention Harbor student-artists: Just one week left to submit a design for our annual T-shirt and hoodie contest! Interested students should submit a t-shirt design featuring waves/water that fits with this year’s quote: "You can't control the waves, but you can learn to navigate the current." Winner of design contest gets a free Harbor hoodie! Turn your finished design in to Mrs. Zambito or Mr. Dowker by Friday, Oct. 13

Harbor will hold parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday, October 4 immediately following the end of the school day, from 3 to 6 p.m. Parents will have the opportunity to meet with their student's teachers to discuss their progress.

There will be a meeting for all potential Harbor grads at the start of 3rd hour on Thursday, September 28. Please make sure to attend this important meeting if you are on the grad list for any trimester this year. See Mrs. Behen if you have questions about the meeting.

Each year Harbor holds a shirt design contest where students submit their artwork based on a theme. This year’s inspirational theme was the image of a phoenix. The student body voted and selected Deshon Farlow’s design to be printed on t-shirts and sweatshirts accompanied by the quote: “With hope, we rise from the ashes”.

Harbor's 10th and 11th grade students were invited to attend a presentation about Oakland Schools Technical Campus (OSTC) programming. Harbor students have the opportunity to attend the OSTC-SW campus in Wixom if they are passing all their classes, have good attendance, and are on track for graduation. Programs at OSTC include: Agricultural Science, Automotive Collision and Repair, Automotive Technology, Computer Programming, Culinary, Cyber Security, Engineering-Robotics-Mechatronics, Entrepreneurship, Graphic Communication and Design, Heavy Equipment, and Welding.

Members of Harbor High School's Leadership Club have been working hard to transform an empty office space at Harbor into a clothes closet for the Harbor and Adult Education students to access. When the word got out about the closet, clothes came flooding in. There is still a lot of work to do, but when it is complete, the closet will have our students covered.

Harbor's Advanced 21st Century Skills class students took advantage of the nice weather this week to get outside and start filming their short film projects. Groups worked together to plan and storyboard original ideas. These advanced students enjoyed testing out our newer HD camera and drone to record the scripts they wrote.

Allie Lamay, pictured, is a member of the leadership group that organized the creation, election, and delivery of the 2021-2022 Harbor High School hoodies and the selector of the motivational quote, "Just keep swimming" that is printed on each hoodie. Each year, students submit artwork and quotes for the hoodie design and the student body votes for its favorite design. This year there were two designs that went to press along with the quote: the symbolic lighthouse design created by Chloe Phillips, and the Mr. Dowker fish, created by Adam Lincoln.
