As Huron Valley Schools prepares to welcome students back for the 2026-27 school year, families are reminded of two important tools that help make student transportation safer, more efficient and easier to manage: the BusRight Parent App and student bus scan cards.
Together, these tools provide families and the district with valuable information about students’ bus rides while helping transportation staff monitor when students board and exit their buses.
Stay Connected with the BusRight Parent App
The BusRight Parent App gives families greater visibility into their student’s daily bus transportation. Through the app, parents and guardians can:
Track their student’s school bus.
Receive notifications about route changes and delays.
See when and where their student boards and exits the bus.
Families who are new to BusRight can request an invitation through the district’s BusRight registration form. Once an invitation is received, families will receive instructions for downloading the app and creating a secure account.
Don’t Forget the Scan Card
Students are required to scan their individual student card each time they board and exit the bus.
For younger students, HVS recommends attaching the card to their backpack so it is easy to find and remember. Older students may keep their card in a phone case, wallet or outside backpack pocket. The scanner can read the card without it being removed from these locations.
If a student occasionally forgets their card, the bus driver can manually record the ride. However, students are expected to present their scan card each time they ride. Repeated failure to use a scan card may result in a bus conduct report and progressive discipline.
Each scan card is assigned to an individual student. If a student's transportation information changes—including their school, bus number or bus stop—the information associated with the card will be updated in the system.
Keep Your Card From Year to Year
Families were notified in May that students should keep their scan cards, as the same card will be used each school year.
Students who have misplaced their card can request a new or replacement card through the district’s BusRight registration form. Replacement cards are $15.
Huron Valley Schools appreciates the partnership of families in helping ensure students have a safe and efficient transportation experience throughout the school year.
