Happy Birthday Lakewood!! Lakewood Elementary was built in 1974 and turned the big 5-0 this year! Tell us your favorite memory from your time at Lakewood...

Huron Valley Stakeholders,
This will be the 11th Annual event called "The Fastest Kid in Huron Valley" hosted by the Milford Track & Field program for Elementary students of the Huron Valley District. We have considered the event to be an overwhelming success. It has brought over 1,000 kids and families onto our high school campus and provided 100's of kids a way to be active and involved.
We are once again excited to coordinate the event and the date is Thursday, May 22nd, 2025.
We have provided Popsicles for all participants and T-shirts for the fastest times in each of the six respective grades for each gender.
Keep on Runnin'

This week, our junior kindergarten students visited Kensington Metro Park! They learned about mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. They even got to touch a turtle and a snake, as well as experience a nature walk. They had so much fun on their first field trip!

May 16th Be Kind to your mind - Wear your favorite positivity shirt! Words have a huge impact on our mental health. Positive self talk and the power of "yet" are both ways to promote a positive mindset, which can help you reach your goals!

🍕 Hungry Howie’s Family Night Fundraiser today 5/12 (4:00-8:00pm)! Please visit the Hungry Howie's in White Lake (across from Walmart)! 🍕 10% of all sales are donated back to Lakewood’s PTA!!! Thank you for your support!

Fifth-grade hawks have been having a great time at camp for the last two days! They've enjoyed archery, canoeing, rock climbing, team building, zip lining, and the big swing! Make sure to ask what their favorite activity was!

May 9th Sport your sport - Dress as your favorite sport team or a team you participate in. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Being active in a sport is just one of the ways taking care of your physical health can have a positive impact on your mental health!

Thank you to our amazing PTA members at Lakewood who always go above and beyond in showing their appreciation! This week we are taking flight, getting yummy treats, and feeling the love throughout the building. Thank you so much!!

Congratulations to all of the Hawks who shined bright in the talent show on Friday! You all did an amazing job, way to go!

The first Friday in May is School Lunch Hero Day, dedicated to those who make the cafeterias and the schools a better place to be! From the first time through the cafeteria line, the lunch hero has more than nutrition on their minds. The well-being of every child is important to them. Keeping students safe, happy, and providing them with good and delicious food is also a priority. What was your favorite school lunch? Do you remember the smiling face who served it to you? #SchoolLunchHeroDay

Today our 5th graders visited WLMS for a tour, learned about scheduling, enjoyed a fun WLMS trivia game, and got to see future peers!
Celebrate them by stopping by the White Lake DQ tonight between 5-8pm. They will also have blizzard packs available for purchase, which include 5 free blizzard coupons for just $20.

May is mental health awareness month! To honor this, Lakewood's PBIS/SEL committee is holding a spirit month where we recognize this special month on each Friday. This week, we are wearing green, which is used to symbolize growth and renewal. Green also represents our "good to go" or "calm" zone. See if your student can tell you about the zones of regulation.

Let's get excited for the HVS Elementary Art Shows!
Lakewood Hawks' art will be on display during May, with receptions 5/15 6-7:30 PM, at HV Council of the Arts (205 W. Livingston Highland, MI 48357). We hope you can join and see the wonderful work our young artists have created!

Lakewood is thankful this year for the wonderful collaboration between our math coach, Mr. Walker, and our classroom teachers. Together they work to implement new, fun ways to teach students about math! Here you can see Mrs. Frazier's Kindergarten students playing basketball while learning new math skills!

Fifth graders in Mr. Petredean's class were on a roll this morning while striking up some fun in bowling!
