Boxes with names of finalists for new WLMS mascot

On Friday, October 24, White Lake Middle School held a spirited assembly to announce the selection of its new mascot.

After a schoolwide voting process, the finalists were narrowed to four options: the Herons, Falcons, Blue Jays, and Ravens. During the assembly, students enthusiastically showed support for their favorites, with the Falcons and Ravens emerging as the leading contenders. The suspense ended with bursts of confetti and cheers as balloons rose up out of a box labeled Falcons,” officially revealing the school’s new mascot.

Adding to the fun, several teachers took part in lighthearted challenges. Two brave staff members sampled some less-than-appetizing jelly beans, including one flavor dubbed “wet dog,” while another teacher was transformed into a “walking taco,” complete with sour cream.

The adoption of the White Lake Falcons mascot follows the closure of Oak Valley Middle School last year, which led to the integration of its students into White Lake and Muir Middle Schools. The change marks a fresh start and a unifying symbol for the expanded White Lake community—one that students greeted with excitement and school pride.
