IAW and Lakeland are hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive, this Friday, Nov 21st from 8 AM to 2PM in the Lakeland Media Center. Students are welcome, with appropriate qualifications and community members as well. A single blood donation can save up to three lives, and the American Red Cross supplies about 40% of the nation's blood supply. #IArocks #RedCross #AmericanRedCross #giveblood

After a 5-year hiatus, the IA West Model UN team is back in full swing! This past Saturday, 26 students attended the SEMMUNA (SE Mich. Model UN Association) conference at Bloomfield Hills HS. They were in different committees representing a particular country, and debated the topic of "fast fashion" and its worldwide impact. There were over 1,400 students from 49 different high schools in attendance. Our students spent weeks before the conference researching and preparing to represent their countries, as well as learning parliamentary procedure, debate strategies, and how to write resolutions. Great job, team!!

The Huron Valley Marching Band completed its final performance of the season at National Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana. The band finished with a score of 72.2, placing 15th in our class and 68th overall out of 109 competing bands. They received many compliments on their show throughout the weekend from bands and people from all over the country.
Additionally, Congratulations to Sam Green, IA West Junior, who was named the Principal Trombonist in the All State Orchestra (1st chair overall).
These are exciting accomplishments for all HVS band students and Mr. Green! #WeareHVS #HVSproud #IArocks

Our Lakeland/IAW Girls Golf team competed in the MHSAA State Finals held at The Meadows Golf Course at GVSU. The Eagles, having already set numerous scoring records and winning their first LVC Championship, added to the program's most successful season ever by placing 5th in Division 1. Lakeland had 5 golfers who each played 36 holes combined on Friday and Saturday. IAW 9th grader, Abigail Ngo posted rounds of 77 and 81 on her way to a tie for 7th place among all individual golfers. IAW Senior Anna Linen (85, 89), LHS senior Aubrin Miller (88, 89), senior IAWClaire Linen (97, 99), and IAW junior Cailyn Milewski (92, 102) also competed for the Eagles. 🦅 Congratulations! #IArocks #WeareHVS
