What a night!?! The Class of 2025 took another step towards their physical exit from IAW... Dressed to the nines, in their best black, blue, gray, yellow, purple, green, pink, red, jean, they ate like royalty and danced the night away on the Infinity Yacht out of St. Clair Shores. They cruised the Detroit River, seeing the beautiful waterway between the US and Canada, circling the historic Belle Isle. #IAWprom2025 #IArocks

IB exams have concluded at IAW. Over the last 4 weeks, students have taken approximately 23 hours of exams in 6 subjects! Kudos to them, but...
Let's send a special thanks to Mrs. Howe, Mrs. Gilmore and Mrs. Anderson for setting everything up ahead of time, ensuring that everything went smoothly and proctoring over 25 different exams for our 78 seniors! We appreciate all that you have done to make sure everyone had what they needed, felt as comfortable as they could be.

Thank you to our IA Alumni panelists from last weeks meeting. We truly appreciate your time and honestly when sharing about your experiences and pathways.
One of the most powerful moments of this year's IA Alumni Panel came when our panelists shared advice we feel everyone — whether they attended or not — should hear. These “soft skills” are essential not only for career success but for life:
1. Remember that there are no true failures, only opportunities.
2. Have no ego: if you need to throw out something you worked hard on, so be it. Be humble enough to create something better.
3. Your fundamental skills, grit, and mindset will sustain you when raw talent isn’t enough.
4. Make more mistakes — it's the fastest way to improve.
5. Never betray the values that led you to your success.
6. Want an extraordinary career? Be extraordinary. Do what’s been done before — better. Do what’s never been done — first.
7. A great career is wonderful, but it doesn’t have to fulfill your whole life. A meaningful life is built with people worth sharing it with.

IA-West is delighted to announce that 2 students are being recognized by the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and InnerView in the eighth annual Community Service Impact Awards. This program, open to all U.S. students, has been designed to connect student community service activities, skill development, and commitment to the Global Goals to transform our world.
The UN Sustainable Global Goals provide a framework for addressing the world’s most pressing challenges. They present a unique opportunity to work together to create a better future for everyone. Congratulations to this year’s awardees, Siddharth Saravanakumar and Elena Amirhasani for their dedication and inspired action! #IArocks #studentleaders
*Sidd also received the Michigan Governor Youth Changemaker Award for completing at least 400 hours of service!

Mr. Green, HVS Band Director received an email from Western Michigan University Director of Bands, Scott Boerma. Mr. Green submitted audition recordings, for our Milford and Lakeland/IA Wind Ensembles to perform as the Huron Valley Wind Ensemble at the 2026 WMU Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music on April 23, 2026. The band was selected!!! There are only 2 bands picked each year to perform! This is an incredible opportunity for our bands.
We will get to work with the featured composer (they have not announced who yet) and perform at the Conference, attend other concerts, and see the finale concert that night.
Congratulations to the Wind Ensemble students at Lakeland/IA and Milford!!! Way to go!!!

It was a very exciting day yesterday for the first ever IA/Lakeland Invitational Debate.
More than 20 students from both schools participated in the bracket-style debate, with IA's Mark Kena running away with the win without a partner! Lakeland junior Jake Heykoop and freshman Anthony Bebawy snagged second place.
It couldn't have been done without the help from the following staff who generously donated their time for judging: Mr. Trice, Mr. Head, Sr. Buente, Ms. Smith, Mr. McGuire, Mrs. Whitehead, Ms. Ails and Ms. Kuechle who helped judge the decisive final rounds. Thank you to everyone who helped and participated! #WeAreHVS #HVSproud #IArocks
