
8th graders had a GREAT day at the zoo! The weather was amazing and there were many animals out! We also learned from the zoo educators about how climate impacted the wolf population on Isle Royale.











At Sixth Grade Orientation today, we were excited to meet our incoming students! We had tours from our WEB leaders, music from band and choir, and we learned about schedule choices for sixth grade. It was a great day and we can't wait until next year!








Eighth graders enjoyed a day at the Henry Ford Museum on Friday. They took a seat on the Rosa Parks bus and viewed other innovations. They also watched a 3D movie about the Great Bear Rain Forest in the Imax Giant Screen Experience!







Oak Valley 6th and 7th grade instrumentalists enjoyed the opportunity to play with Lakeland High School Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble students on Tuesday. After rehearsing together, they presented a wonderful concert for the Band-O-Rama!




It's National Assistant Principal's Week! We are so proud to celebrate our Mrs. Fraza! Since joining us in November, Mrs. Fraza has been learning the ropes at OV and getting to know our students, staff, and families. She brings many gifts and talents to our Oak Valley team and we are so grateful that she is a part of our Hornet Family. Happy Mrs. Fraza Week!


Congratulations to Mrs. Kelly Haas, the HVS Middle School Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Haas works tirelessly to bring our students many enriching experiences, in the classroom and beyond! We appreciate your extraordinary leadership, Mrs. Haas!




The HVS choirs were excited to bring all of our bass voices together for a day filled with workshops, singing, and performing for elementary students!

The Oak Valley Choirs offered a wonderful concert last night for a full house! The audience enjoyed listening to their classical, folk, and multilingual music. The MHS Singers joined us with "Cruisin' for a Bruisin'" and the evening concluded as the combined groups belted out "River in Judea." Congratulations to Mrs. Samuels and all vocalists on a very successful presentation!

We had a blast at our St. Patrick's Day activity this afternoon. Hornets enjoyed dancing to music from the DJ, playing carnival games, volleyball and basketball in the gym, a cake walk and hanging out with their friends! 🍀











Our St. Patty's Day Dance is Thursday, March 16, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm here at OVMS! We'll have a DJ, pizza, basketball, cake walk, coin toss, photo backdrop/props, and more! Tickets are $10 and the deadline is lunch time on March 16. No tickets will be sold after lunch. Also, remember that March 16 is a GREEN OUT here at OV!!


Oak Valley 8th Graders enjoyed tours, orientation, and activities at MHS and LHS last week. Remember that all high school schedules are due by this Friday, March 17. Students, if you have questions, please see Mrs. Nellis.





Last week, 8th graders had the opportunity to visit the Oakland Schools Technical Campus (OSTC) SW. Oak Valley students heard from current OSTC students about the programs offered such as agriscience/environmental technologies, health sciences, welding, graphic design, culinary arts, automotive technology and more. Our 8th graders came back excited about options they will have once they begin high school!

OVMS band students in 7th and 8th grades participated in March Musical Madness at Milford High School with Muir MS. It was a full day of events with instrument clinicians, a stage hypnotist, and lots of food. They worked with guest conductor, Eric Crimmins, to present a fantastic evening concert!

Over the weekend, students in Mrs. Lukes' math classes were challenged to do just that. Mission accomplished and great work, Hornets!











OVMS art students enjoy working together on a large group painting project. Their plans are student-driven, and require patience and collaboration.





6th grade scientists "roasted" marshmallows to study heat transfer through conduction, convection and radiation. We love when science is fun, and tastes good too!











The Oak Valley Hornets were good luck at last night's Red Wings Game! This was a wonderful fundraiser opportunity for our school. Go Hornets, and LGRW!
