Happy Friday, Lakewood Families:
Our students had a great time at the Color Run today. Thank you to all of the parents that organized and volunteered at the event. Also a HUGE thank you to everyone that donated. The Color Run is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and the money we raise allows us to have school wide assemblies, additional supplies for our students, and family events.
Our next big event is our Halloween parade. This will be on October 30th, which is a half day. Weather permitting, our parade will be at 12:05 PM around the exterior of our school building. If the weather does not cooperate for us, our parade will be moved indoors for staff and students only.
As you begin to purchase costumes, a few reminders…
Gory and/or scary costumes will not be allowed. Instead, children are encouraged to wear child friendly costumes such as superheroes, story book characters, movie or T.V show/cartoon characters, etc.
While we understand that make-up is often an integral part of the costume, we regret that it cannot be worn for the school fall activities.
Absolutely no weapons or replicas of weapons are allowed in school.
Blow-up costumes do not work for the parade, as they restrict movement.
We understand and respect that not everyone feels comfortable with costumes and/or participating so feel free to choose the level of participation that meets your child’s needs.
I hope everyone has a great weekend, and I hope to see you this evening at the Lakeland Homecoming Parade on our campus at 5:30 PM.
