welcome to camp

Happy Friday, Lakewood Families!

First off, I wanted to give a shout out to all of our performers in last week’s talent show. While I didn’t get to see all of the performances, I enjoyed seeing the excitement and feelings of accomplishment when the performers returned backstage to me. I also enjoyed watching the videos on Facebook. Thank you, thank you, thank you Chelsea Contway for putting together this wonderful event.

This week I got to attend the 5th great camp. We had wonderful weather, and I really enjoyed listening to students encouraging one another when ziplining and climbing the alpine tower. I also loved seeing students working together on the ropes, and seeing their determination and focus during the archery activity. Camp Ohiyesa is a wonderful yearly experience for our 5th graders, and I am excited to hear about their last day of camp on May 8th.

Next week, all students will return to their normal schedule, as scheduled testing sessions have concluded. MSTEP make-ups will be conducted throughout the month of May, but they will not impact student daily schedules. I am super proud of our 3rd-5th grade students for working so hard. I am looking forward to seeing their results.

If you would like to submit a student profile sheet, they are due by the end of the school day on Monday. Here is the link to this OPTIONAL student profile sheet for you to fill-out if you would like to provide any feedback around your child’s learning style. You may not write specific teachers’ names on this form. Forms with teachers names will not be used in our classroom placement process. Please put forms in a sealed envelope with my name on it once completed.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
