happy st patricks day

Happy Monday, Lakewood Families!

I am very excited to announce that Mrs. Michele Hojnacki (3rd grade teacher) was recognized as Huron Valley School’s elementary teacher of the year last week. She was also entered as Oakland County’s elementary teacher of the year. We will find out in April if she is a finalist. 🤞

Additionally, we had a great turnout last night at our Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten orientation. I am very excited to welcome our new students and their families into our building next fall, which will be there before you know it.

On Friday, March 27th our whole school will be attending a Detroit Pistons assembly at the Lakeland High School Fieldhouse sponsored by our Lakewood PTA. This assembly will include a motivational speech, Hooper the mascot, a dance off, trampolines, t-shirt/foam ball giveaways, and student volunteer activities. Please make sure that your student arrives at school on this day, no later than 9:20. Our staff can walk over any students that arrive on a late bus, but we will not have the ability to walk over each late car that arrives.

I wanted to address the afternoon carline as I have heard that some cars are cutting in line.. When arriving in the afternoon, please do not leave space between cars for other cars to cut in line, with the exception of where the driveway and parking lot meet at the stop sign. Additionally, please do not park in the parking lot and tell your child to meet you at a car. Cars should not be leaving the parking lot to cut in the car line either. Students exit their classrooms at 4:08 pm, and we are done calling all cars by 4:22 pm; which means while I know the line looks long, we move it along really fast. Thank you for your attention to this, and thank you to White Lake Police for helping us patrol this last week.

Have a great week!
