veterans day honoring all who served

Hello Lakewood Families!

First off, I wanted to let you all know that The Lakewood Unified Program was honored by Special Olympics Michigan. The Lakewood Hawks and coaches were presented with the 2024-25 Most Improved Player award. The award is given annually to schools that show growth within their Unified program and embody the three components of Unified Champion School: Inclusive Student Leadership, Unified Sports and Whole School Engagement. Great work, Hawks!

This week, our students in grades 3-5 attended the Ned’s Resiliency Ride assembly. This assembly is a character education program that centers around three important messages that have lifelong relevance: Never give up, Encourage Others, and Do your best. During the assembly, students learned about the importance of these three life skills while also enjoying storytelling, magic, humor, and yo-yo tricks. Yo-Yo’s and accessories will be sold during morning arrival on Monday, November 10th and Tuesday, November 11th. Order forms were sent home last week.

Thank you to everyone that came out for Fall Conferences last night and to all the parents that donated food for our staff for the first night of conferences. Our second night of conferences will be on Tuesday, November 11th from 4:30-8:00 PM. Conferences are a really great opportunity for families to learn about their child’s progress and to collaborate with teachers around how to best support your child’s academic success at home. If you have not scheduled your conference, please contact your child’s teacher immediately.

Additionally, during conferences the lost and found will be open. We have lots of items that need to be reunited with their owners. Please take a look as you walk in for conferences. We will be donating all leftover items after the second night of conferences. We will also have our Fall Book Fair open in the library, if you would like to purchase any early holiday gifts. ;)

Happy Early Veteran’s Day to all of the Lakewood Service Members. We enjoyed celebrating you today, and are very appreciative for your sacrifice and service for our country.

I hope you all have a safe and wonderful weekend!
