Happy Monday, Lakewood!
Last week our 3rd graders took the Math M-STEP and our 5th graders took the science M-STEP. This week our 4th graders will take the Math M-STEP and our 5th graders will take the social studies M-STEP. We are getting very close to being done with the M-STEP.
Also, in honor of Earth Day on Tuesday, an environmental specialist from Priority Waste visited Friday to teach our kindergarten- 5th grade students about the 3 Rs, what to place in recycling bins, and where items go once they are placed on the curb.
It is hard to believe that the end of the 24-25 school year is approaching. In the next couple of weeks, our teachers will begin making class lists for next school year. I am attaching an OPTIONAL student profile sheet for you to fill-out if you would like to provide any feedback around your child’s learning style. You may not write specific teachers’ names on this form. Forms with teachers names will not be used in our classroom placement process.
As of right now, we have four Lakewood Staff members that are retiring at the end of the school year. Ms. Segura (2nd grade teacher), Mrs. Crotts (Literacy Para), Mrs. Kress (Literacy Para), and Mrs. Dudley (Literacy Para) will all be retiring. We thank them for their hard work and commitment to student learning and growth, and we wish them all the best!
Lastly, On May 3, and 4, Community Sharing will be hosting a HUGE garage sale for the entire community. Community sharing works with the HVS school district to provide food and assistance for families in need. It is one of their primary money makers for the year, and will be located at their building in Highland (400 Beach Farm Circle, Highland 48356 - next to the Highland Township library). Any donations will be doubled by Meijer!
