All 26 students who attended the Metro Detroit Model UN conference last Saturday at Walled Lake Western HS did a great job representing their countries' roles and IA West! There were more than 450 students from 15-plus schools in attendance.

Students debated multiple topics including: ensuring fair judicial systems, protecting displaced populations, regulating autonomous weapons systems, preventing the weaponization of outer space, addressing water pollution,and preserving indigenous cultures and cultural heritage sites. There were also historical crisis committees exploring the partition of India in the late 1940s and the impact of the Great Depression on Australia in the 1930s.

Two IA West students were recognized as "Consummate Diplomats" on their respective committees: 10th grader Grace Gammou (representing France) and 9th Grader Aakriti Lamichhane (representing Palestine). #IArocks
