The IA/Lakeland Speech & Debate Team traveled to its first-ever competition at Michigan State University on Saturday, Feb. 14th for the 9th Annual Spartanvitational.
Nine IA West students matched their skills against students from all over the state in the following speaking events: Extemporaneous, Oratory, and Informative. While they did not make it to the semi-finals, everyone agreed that it was a great learning opportunity and are excited for their next competition.
The following IA West students competed:
Pranay Chellam, Grace Ann Gammou, Kian Gordon, Muhammad Hassan Hassan, Alishba Jafri, Aanya Janga, Matthew Kena, Mark Kena, and Devyani Shekhawat.

IAW sophomores researched and presented their own choices for their WWII Museum Exhibits. Students shared about important, well known and some unrecognized people that helped in various ways. Others focused on events, products, cultural actions/responses to wartime. Great work historians! #IArocks
