Harbor High School students and staff brought a special meaning to this year’s Halloween Spirit Week, celebrating the legacy of a beloved former teacher whose impact continues to be felt throughout the Huron Valley Schools community.

This year, Harbor introduced a new dress-up theme in honor of Paul “Sully” Sullivan, a longtime HVS educator who spent much of his career making a difference in the lives of students and colleagues across multiple district buildings.

Sullivan was known for his ability to connect with students, particularly those who may have felt lost or struggled to find their place. Through his encouragement, humor and genuine care for others, he inspired countless young people and left a lasting impression on the lives he touched.

His influence extended well beyond the classroom. Sullivan was also known for his playful personality and love of pulling pranks with fellow Harbor High staff members. He had a unique ability to spread laughter and bring joy to those around him, making him a memorable part of the school community.

To celebrate his legacy, students and staff were invited to dress in the style Sullivan was known for wearing: track suits, sweats and sports jerseys. The hallways were filled with familiar looks that reflected his personality and brought back memories of the laughter and fun he shared with the Harbor family.

The special spirit week theme offered an opportunity for students and staff to celebrate more than just Halloween. It was a chance to remember an educator who understood the importance of building relationships, making connections and helping students recognize their potential.

While the outfits were a fun nod to Sullivan's signature style, the tribute carried a deeper message: The impact of a great teacher lasts long after the school day ends.

Harbor High's celebration served as a reminder of the lasting legacy “Sully” left behind and the many lives he touched throughout his career with Huron Valley Schools.
