This year Harbor High School welcomed Doc Williams as our new Career and Education Navigator. Williams’ role is to work with students to develop career pathway plans that include the educational requirements needed to achieve their goals. He provides ongoing support to help Harbor students successfully implement the educational components of their career plans. Already Mr. Williams has proved to be a great resource for HHS students by providing an array of support including applying to postsecondary institutions, filing financial aid (FAFSA) applications, accessing loan applications, and registering for classes. Mr. Dowker, Harbor’s principal, shared that “Mr. Williams has been a game changer when it comes to helping our students develop a plan for what happens after high school and instrumental in guiding them on this journey. I cannot say enough about the good work he is doing with our students.” Business teacher Kim Behen adds, “David (Doc) Williams is our Oakland80 Career Navigator at Harbor High School. The Oakland80 goal is to get 80 percent of our adult population in the county with some sort of a post-secondary degree or certification by the year 2030. Doc meets with each of our graduating students to help them figure out a post-secondary plan, he helps them complete their FAFSA to receive financial aid, and then to apply to various schools of choice. He also helps facilitate the completion of all Harbor students EDP's (Educational Development Plans)”. Students interested in meeting with Mr. Williams can find him in Harbor’s media center.
