Mrs. Riley and a student

Harbor is fortunate to have a great team of professionals supporting our students. You can find the members of this awesome team in the media center.

Mrs. Riley is Harbor's school psychologist, and this year she is joined by Ms. Reece Ohmer who is studying to become a school psychologist at Michigan State University. Ms. Reece wants Harbor students to know that her "role is to help you feel supported both academically and emotionally. Whether you’re trying to manage stress, stay motivated in challenging classes, talk through something on your mind, or figure out your next steps after graduate, [she's] here as a judgment-free resource. You don’t need to have a “big” concern to stop by Student Services because sometimes even a quick conversation can make a big difference." Ms. Reece and Mrs. Riley want to "help you feel confident, connected, and ready for success while you are here!"

A few fun facts about our school psychologists: Mrs. Riley is a Huron Valley Schools graduate, and Ms. Reece is an avid golfer who spends as much time on the greens as she can in the warmer months.

Mr. Dawson is our school social worker and also runs a variety of mental health support groups for students. He wants students to know that he is "here to support you with whatever you’re dealing with—school, stress, life, or anything in between. As the school social worker, [he] provides a safe, judgment-free space where you get a clean slate and someone who listens. [He] can help with mental health concerns, family or relationship issues, attendance and motivation, planning for your future, and connecting you with resources if you need them. If you’re ever in crisis, [Mr. Dawson is] here to keep you safe and help you figure out your next steps. You can stop by [his] office, ask a teacher to send you, or request a check-in anytime. You matter here, and you don’t have to handle things alone."

Mr. Dawson has lived in this area his entire life. He has a small hobby farm with 3 horses, 20-some chickens , a few cats and a cute Blue Nose Pit Bull named Lucy. Mr. Dawson has won school social worker of the year award and is a big fan of the University of Michigan!
