Mrs. Best, Mr. Dowker and students

Harbor High School is pleased to announce that our own Mrs. Kim Best was named High School Teacher of the Year! Best, a dedicated special education teacher, has been with Huron Valley Schools for nearly 20 years. Throughout her tenure, she has supported students with special needs at Harbor High, White Lake Middle, and Highland Elementary, earning a reputation for her compassionate and tireless work on behalf of her students.

Mr. Dawson, School Social Worker at HHS says Mrs. Best "excels at building strong relationships with parents, ensuring that families feel informed and supported. Her dedication to communication and collaboration strengthens the bond between school and home, providing a solid foundation for student success. Her positive spirit—and love of a good laugh—makes her a joy to work with and an integral part of the school community."

A recent graduate, Nadia, notes that Best "is always there when you need her, no matter if that’s just to talk, help you with math, science, history, English, or online work. She is perpetually kind and helpful in every interaction, making it very easy to talk to her. Her open, honest approach to every situation, conflict, relationship or request has definitely changed my life."

Mrs. Best will be honored at a ceremony recogizing all of Teachers from Oakland County that were named teacher of the year. Congrats to Mrs. Best and thank you for being an amazing educator!
