student stnading in front of wall of cereal boxes

This year, students set a goal of collecting 500 cereal boxes — and quickly surpassed it. The donated cereal will support students and families within the school community, while additional boxes will be donated to Community Sharing.

To celebrate the successful drive, staff spent more than an hour carefully lining the school hallways with hundreds of cereal boxes in preparation for the annual domino drop. While setting up the display came with a few challenges — including accidental tumbles and having to restart sections after a single box fell out of place — the laughter and teamwork made it all worthwhile.

On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, students lined the hallways and gathered outside classrooms in excitement as the countdown began. With a loud cheer of “Three, two, one!” the cereal boxes toppled one after another through the building, creating a memorable moment for everyone involved.

The annual event not only brings excitement to Heritage Elementary, but also reminds students of the importance of giving back and helping others during the holiday season.
