March is Reading Month, and we are so excited to celebrate with you! Our Scholastic Book Fair kicks off TOMORROW!
This month, we are going to welcome author Emily Kastner for a special visit, along with an engaging assembly featuring the Howell Nature Center!
We are also introducing something new this year: a Book Tournament inspired by the March Madness basketball tournament! A heartfelt thank you to our PTA for sponsoring these fantastic events!
We have selected 16 books to compete in the 2025 COE March Book Madness Championship. Keep an eye out for the brackets that will be sent home on Monday! Students can bring them back to see who can make the most accurate predictions about which books will advance. We encourage families to vote for their favorites throughout the month.

COE March Book Madness 2025
Dear Families:
For March is Reading Month, instead of One School One Book, we are going to try something new! We will be participating in an elimination book tournament, much like March Madness Basketball, but with books! We have chosen books from a list of COE staff favorites! Thank you to our PTA for funding this exciting event.
On February 24, your child(ren) will bring home a Book Tournament bracket. If your child wants to participate, they can fill out and return the bracket with their predictions of which book will win each round and ultimately be crowned the favorite picture book of Country Oaks 2025!
Please have your child turn in their completed bracket to their teacher NO LATER than February 28. No late entries can be accepted! The student from each classroom who earns the most points on their bracket will win a prize!
Our bracket breakdown is as follows:
Week 1- Feb 24-28 Sweet 16 - WEST
Week 2- March 3-7 Sweet 16 - EAST
Week 3- March 10-14 Elite 8
Week 4- March 17-21 Final 4 AND Finals.
Winner will be announced March 21

You can start enjoying the books together now by going to our site. You may have many of these favorites on your bookshelf at home, at the library, online or listen to some of our Staff read to you.
When we all read together we grow a community of readers. We are looking forward to seeing who will be crowned the COE favorite book for 2025!
